Student Housing
The Student Housing Office at the University of Skövde cooperates closely with housing companies around the city, but there are a limited number of furnished rooms for students. All rooms are single rooms.
- As an international student, living outside of Sweden, you can apply for student housing but we cannot guarantee accommodation.
- If you are going to bring your husband/wife or children, you cannot apply for student accommodation.
- If you are a Swedish resident you cannot apply for student accommodation through the University
The University of Skövde is located close to the city centre. The accommodation alternatives that are offered are located within a distance of 30 minutes from the University. Depending on the location, the distance to the University and the type of room, the rental costs are variable around SEK 4,000 per month.
General description of a student dormitory room
There are a limited number of furnished rooms with a private shower/toilet or with access to shared showers/toilets. Payment of a deposit is normally required. Electricity, heating, water, a pillow and quilt, and internet access are normally included in the rental cost for the furnished room. The living room and kitchen are shared by a number of students. Please note that you are all responsible for keeping the kitchen and living room clean. There is often access to a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers. Most laundry facilities can be used free of charge. At least two weeks before you leave Skövde, an appointment must be made with the landlord for the inspection of your room. It is important that the room is thoroughly cleaned. Please also note that pets are not permitted in student housing.
Apply for accommodation
All international students are eligible to apply for accommodation. The application form will be open in connection with your application to the University. If you are offered a room, you must contact the landlord for information about your room, payment and key collection.
Please contact the Student Housing Office as soon as possible if you do not wish to accept your offer of a room. In such a case, the University is not currently able to assist you in finding other accommodation. For those to whom we cannot offer accommodation, please see the advice below about housing possibilities on the private market.

NOTE! Rental negotiations are ongoing in all of our accommodation areas and they will most likely be completed in May 2024. The documents will be updated as soon as the new rents are set.

We will process your application for accommodation once you have been admitted to the University of Skövde. This means that we will not consider your application unless we have received all your documents. Due to the shortage of accommodation, you must be prepared to accept a room within a distance of 30 minutes from the University, and we cannot guarantee you will receive your first choice.
You will not receive confirmation of your application, but all students will be contacted in late June/November and informed about where they will stay, after they have been admitted to studies at the University of Skövde. If you do not accept the offered room, or if we have not received your "Application for Accommodation" in time, we will assume that you will personally arrange your own accommodation.
Internet connection
It is possible to subscribe to a broadband internet connection in your room after your arrival at Skövde. In Xenia, Perenius and Hasslum, internet access is included in the rent.
At Norra Trängallén, you must pay SEK 400 per semester for internet access.

Information for families
Student accommodation cannot at any time be provided to students with children. Due to the student housing and the regulations of our landlords, it is not possible for you to bring family members to stay with you. If you are bringing your family, you must personally arrange your own accommodation. We recommend that you contact Skövdebostäder and register in the student queue system. Due to a general shortage of housing, it is not easy find accommodation for a family, and it is also important to be aware that rental costs in Sweden are considered to be relatively high.
