INFINIT is a research and educational environment at the University of Skövde that is supported by the Knowledge Foundation. The research and education efforts are carried out in tight collaboration with business sector partners.
The university's joint theme of Digitalization for Sustainable Development is the basis for the vision that has been formulated for INFINIT: Based on internationally recognized information technology research, INFINIT shall be a complete research and educational environment that contributes to the development of a competitive business sector.
Developing INFINIT to become a complete research and education environment that contributes to a competitive business sector requires a good scientific foundation as well as research and education that takes place within a clearly defined, subject-specific profile. The subject profiling is based on the area of information technology: Generation, quality assurance, analysis and visualization of data, using information technology systems and models, in order to support decision making.
A cornerstone of INFINIT's operations is a collaboration with trade and industry, both in research projects and in education. INFINIT collaborates with around 70 companies. Most of these have their geographical domicile in Region Västra Götaland. Approximately 2/3 of the companies have collaborated with INFINIT's researchers for a long time. An example of an established, long-term collaboration is the position as Preferred Research Partner within the Volvo Group's Academic Partner Program.
