Corporate Finance Management is mainly about creating value by making clever choices regarding investment projects and the way to finance these projects. A brief presentation of financial markets and institutions is followed by a thorough discussion of different methods applied to choose the most profitable investment projects among a set of available projects. These methods are also used to choose the cheapest financing alternative for the chosen project. In this course all investment appraisals are based on the firm cash flow rather than the firm accounting data.
This course contains a basic presentation of modern financial theories, which describe the relationship between risk and return for financial assets as well as real assets. These theories fall into a number of models that can be used in practice to estimate appropriate levels of required returns from individual risky projects. Moreover, an introduction of option theory is included. Awareness of the modern financial theories and option theory allow a more advanced an accurate process for capital budgeting.
The course ends with a discussion of the procedures that precede mergers and acquisitions.
