We offer courses in English both in the autumn and in the spring. There are currently about 25 courses in game development available to exchange students (see list below). More may be added in the future. You may apply to these courses, individually and in any combination*.
Please note that exchange studies are only available to those who are already studying at a university that has a partnership with the University of Skövde, and who have already been approved for exchange studies.
To facilitate your planning, we have also provided some possible course tracks (see further below for more details).

Recommended course
The course Project Studies in New Media I is recommended for students who do not have a full course load of other game development courses and who have prior experience with creating games. It entails the creation of a game project by a team. The project workload is adapted, to the extent possible, to the students' enrollment in other courses. Each student is enrolled in the course for a full semester but the project may be completed either full-time over two months or part time (50%) over a full semester.
Course Tracks (Suggestions)
The course tracks below highlight the courses that are currently available within some major specializations of Game Development at different months of the year. There are currently seven course tracks:
- Game Art
- Game Design
- Game Writing
- Game Audio/Music
- Games User Experience
- Serious Games
- Media/Cultural Heritage
The courses listed below are 7.5 credits unless otherwise stated. The pace of study is 50% unless otherwise stated. Such courses occupy 50% of a student's total workload in a two-month study period. Thus a student would normally take two such courses in the same study period. There are two study periods in each semester. Full-time studies in Sweden equal 15 credits per study period and 30 credits per semester. Exchange students, however, are permitted to take more than 30 credits per semester, to include courses in Swedish language or culture, or in English.
