The course will provide you with an understanding of MBD (model-based definition) and how the transition to a model-based approach – i.e. linking the product data to the 3D model – can be structured during the various phases of the product life cycle. We will place particular emphasis on the design process. You will build up your practical skills by having access to software and being able to work with MBD during the course.
Analyse examples from industry
During the course, you will analyse your own, or another organisation’s management of product information during a product’s life cycle. This reflective element will provide you with a better understanding of the potential challenges and opportunities when it comes to implementing and using a 3D model-based approach.
After completing the course, you will be able to:
- Describe the implications of a 3D model-based approach during the product life cycle, and argue the potential advantages and disadvantages of the 3D model as an information carrier, with particular emphasis on the design process.
- Analyse a company’s approach to managing product information during the product life cycle, and reflect on how it could be improved using MBD.
- Reflect on the potential challenges and opportunities of implementing and using a 3D model-based approach in your own or other activities.
Who is the course for?
This course is aimed at people who work with, or around, product development and are curious about how you can optimise all parts of the value chain by applying a model-based approach.
