Wei Wang, Associate Senior Lecturer in Automation Engineering at the University of Skövde, has been awarded the Best Paper Award in ICMR 2019 conference in Belfast. – I feel proud, he says.
The novelty of the research is human-robot interaction and how flexibility can be increased in a production line when more and more people are involved in the production together with robots.
The research is focused on human-robot collaboration which aims to increase the flexibility of the production line by enabling people to work closely together with robots. The novelty of this research is in understanding which tasks should be performed by humans and which should be done by robots, while taking into account ergonomics and seeking to find a balance between production and ergonomic challenges when handling components manually.
A specific research project, EU SYMBIO-TIC, has just ended, but Wei Wang is interested in continuing supported by VF-KDO project .
– We still want to dig deeper into the area before we transfer it to the real production, says Wei Wang.
He can also note that the acclaimed research article on ICMR has contributed even more to the will to continue in the area.
– It inspires me to keep going.
