The University's five research environments are followed up within a six-year cycle. The six-year follow-up constitutes the basis for continued development of the conditions and quality of the research. The follow-up has now been completed and shows, among other things, that the University's research environments conduct research of high relevance and with good cooperation with the surrounding society.
There are five research environments at the University of Skövde. In six-year cycles, the research environments are followed up, with the aim of identifying factors and strategies that provide conditions that are conducive for high-quality research within the environments, but also development areas within the research environments. The quality of the research and the collaboration with the surrounding society are also followed up.
“With an external follow-up of all our research environments at one and the same time, we get a good overview of the strengths and development areas of our ongoing research. It helps us develop further, says Alexandra Krettek, Dean for the University of Skövde.
The follow-up is now complete and all research environments have received their assessment group's report with conclusions and recommendations for the work going forward. The follow-up shows, among other things, that the University's research environments conduct research of high relevance and that there is good cooperation with the surrounding society.
An external assessment panel has reviewed
The six-year follow-up has been carried out through an external review. This means that each research environment has had an externally appointed assessment panel consisting of two to three subject experts, a labour market representative, and a PhD student representative. Their task has been to review the research environments based on a number of assessment areas and assessment criteria that the University has determined.
Before the summer, the assessment panels were given access to the research environments' self-evaluations, as well as a number of statistical documents. In August, the assessment panels made a site visit, at which they interviewed a number of functions at the University. The site visit also included study visits to laboratories and collaboration platforms.
“The University of Skövde gives a positive impression as a pro-active university. I think there is great potential for the University to be able to support and contribute to local and regional development, especially with regard to the ongoing digital transition, says Yvonne von Friedrichs, Chair of the assessment panel for the research environment Organising for Sustainable Development.
Five research environments
The University of Skövde conducts research within five environments:
- Digital HEAlth Research (DHEAR)
- Organising for Sustainable Development
- Informatics
- Systems Biology
- Virtual Engineering
The faculty board will compile a report with recommendations on University level. When the report is finalised it will be published on the page Six-year follow-up of research environments
