On September 27, the University of Skövde invites the public to the science festival European Researchers’ Night. In Swedish known as ForskarFredag. Visitors can meet researchers in video games and automation, and school students can participate in activities on VR and the future of healthcare. This year's theme is research in everyday life.
The photo of the bacterium Proteus mirabilis is one of the images in the exhibition "Get Closer to Research," which will be inaugurated during ForskarFredag 2024.
"ForskarFredag is a chance to geek out and have fun. We want people to feel welcome, try cool things, talk to our researchers, and discover how science impacts everyday life," says Christian Boström, project leader for ForskarFredag in Skövde.
The day starts with a business breakfast at ASSAR, focusing on the workplace of the future. At 12:00, the photo exhibition "Get Closer to Research" opens on campus, showcasing how researchers work to improve the world.
ForskarFredag also features a film premiere for middle school students about the life of a researcher, in collaboration with Balthazar Science Center. High school students will meet researchers and explore future technologies like AI and VR, as well as experience the future of healthcare at Skaraborg Health Technology Center.
Schools and workplaces can also "borrow a researcher" to gain insights into specific research areas.
The program in Skövde is primarily in Swedish. For more information about ForskarFredag: forskarfredag.se/researchers-night/
