The SI scholarship Pioneering women in STEM is a competitive fully-funded scholarship that includes full tuition fee coverage and a monthly allowance of 12,000 SEK.
The scholarship is open to female citizens from the eligible countries and applies to selected master’s programmes starting in the autumn semester. Please check eligibility criteria below.
Application deadline
The scholarship application for the master's programmes which start in the Autumn 2025 (August 2025 intake) is alredy closed. The application deadline was on 3 February, 2025 at 23:59 CET.
Key dates
- 15 October 2024–15 January 2025: Application for studies to master’s programmes through UniversityAdmissions.se.
- 3 February 2025: Deadline to submit supporting documentation to University Admissions.
- 3 February 2025: Deadline to pay the application fee (900 SEK) to University Admissions.
- 3 February 2025: Deadline to submit your application for the scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM.
- 27 March 2025: UniversityAdmissions.se admission results (Notification of Selection Results published).
- 24 April 2025: Pioneering Women in STEM scholarships results will be published on Pioneering Women in STEM (si.se)

Eligibility criteria
- To apply for the scholarship you must be a female citizen of one of the 10 eligible countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand or Vietnam.
- Apply for master's studies at one of the eligible programmes at the University of Skövde listed below:
- Biomarkers in Molecular Medicine, 120 credits, code HS-41263
- Cognitive Neuroscience: Mind and Brain, 60 credits, code HS-41274
- Data Science, 120 credits, code HS-41265
- Game Development, 120 credits, code HS-41282
- Intelligent Automation, 120 credits (campus Skövde), code HS-41272
- Privacy, Information and Cyber Security, 120 credits (campus Skövde), code HS-41270
- Systems Biology with specialization in Bioinformatics, 120 credits, code HS-41281
- You must follow the steps and deadlines of University Admissions (autumn first admission round) and be admitted to one of the eligible master's programmes on the day the notification of selection results are published.

Note! If you have already been awarded an SI Scholarship or a university degree in Sweden, you are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
How to apply
- Apply for one of the eligible master's programme at the University of Skövde via the website UniversityAdmissions.se. All scholarship applicants to meet all deadlines for the master's first admission round on University Admissions. Late applications or applicants with late documents submissions have no chances of scholarship.
- Record a two-minute video explaining why you want to take the selected master's programme at the University of Skövde and how you are going to use the knowledge acquired during the programme. Upload your video to a website or cloud storage so that it can be viewed by our Scholarship Committee, for example upload your video on Youtube and mark it unlisted. Please note that we will not download any video. We must be able to view the video only with the link provided via the online scholarship application form.
- Fill out the scholarship application form below and submit it by the deadline (3 Feburary 2025). Note that you must fill out all fields in the online application form. You must inform your application number (eight-digit number), video link and email connected to your account on UniversityAdmsisions.se.
- Upload a copy of your passport (first page with personal information and photo), CV and, at least, one reference letter to UniversityAdmissions.se. Note that you may submit these documents after the scholarship application deadline; however, they must be uploaded on University Admissions by 3/3/2025.
The person providing your reference should be someone who knows you in a professional or academic capacity. The reference letter must be on official letterhead and include the contact information of the signer, including their institution, job position, professional telephone number, email, and a brief description of how you are connected. Note: you must include at least one reference letter in your scholarship application. However, providing two reference letters is recommended, as it can strengthen your application by offering a broader perspective on your qualifications and achievements. Please note that the reference(s) may be academic or professional.
