Alexandra Krettek is MSc in Biology (Lund University, 1992) and PhD Medicine in Cardiovascular Prevention (University of Gothenburg, 1999). After three years as Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, USA she was awarded a four-year Assistant Professor position at the Swedish Research Council. Alexandra became Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Prevention in 2005 at Sahlgrenska Academy/University of Gothenburg and Senior Lecturer at Nordic School of Public Health NHV in 2007.
In 2012, Alexandra was appointed Professor of Public Health at NHV where she has also held assignments as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (equivalent to Pro-Vice-Chancellor), Research Coordinator, and Director of Advanced Studies. Her research encompasses biomedical aspects on atherosclerosis development to public health focus with special emphasis on population-based studies for cardiovascular disease prevention. Since 2008, Alexandra's research has focused on global health.
To date, Alexandra has supervised 15 PhD-students who have successfully defended their doctoral theses. She has also supervised 13 master theses and numerous other graduate projects and theses. Alexandra has extensive teaching and lecturing experience both nationally and internationally. Since 2015, Alexandra is Professor of Public Health at University of Skövde where she has also held positions as Chair of Public Health 2015-2017 and Pro-Dean for the University 2017-2019.
From 1 January 2020, Alexandra is Dean of the University of Skövde. Since 2015, she is also employed as Professor II at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
