“Why we dream” remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in science. In this project, we have set out to address this question by investigating the phenomenology, dynamics, and correlates of dream experiences.
Specifically, we investigate
- how the results regarding the phenomenology of dream experiences are influenced by the methodology we use to study them;
- how dream experiences are linked to our waking well-being and ill-being;
- the phenomenology and underlying neural processes of dream experiences and whether these are continuous across wakefulness and sleep;
- whether and to what extent dream experiences rely on and are involved in emotion regulation.
